The Dental Implants Process
Patients who are missing even one tooth are encouraged to visit with Dr. Henley for a dental implants consultation. At this appointment, our team will assess your dental health and needs to see if implants are right for you. If they are, and we determine that your mouth is healthy enough for the surgical placement of an implant, we’ll design a treatment plan unique to your smile goals.
At the placement appointment, Dr. Henley inserts a small titanium post – the actual implant – into your jawbone in place of the missing tooth. The titanium will fuse with your bone over a few months’ time, providing a solid anchor for the restoration that will go on top. Depending on your needs and how many teeth you’re missing, we will recommend either a dental crown, a bridge, or an implant-supported denture as your restoration. Once the implant is healed, come back to our office to be fitted for your restoration. After the restoration is in place, you can start enjoying your brand new smile!
When we first get started, it may seem like the process is going to take a long time. And getting dental implants does take a number of appointments spaced out over months in order to give the mouth time to heal. But by the time your new implants are in and your smile is complete, we bet you’ll feel like everything was worth it. And please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or concerns during the process – we’re happy to address them!
